The Chanshal Pass, also known as Chanshal Valley, acts as a connector between Dodra Kwar and Rohru (Chirgaon) in the capital city Shimla of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The pass lands at the top of Chanshal Peak, around 4,520 meters (14,830 ft) above the ground level, and is the highest peak in the Shimla district.

Today we will pick you up from the hotel and proceed for Shimla/Theog. On the way, lunch and arrive in Shimla/Theog in the evening. If time permits, then embark on a street walk. Overnight stay will be in Shimla/Theog.
Leave for Larot early morning with a packed breakfast. Larot is a beautiful hamlet nestled in the lap of the Himalayas, and you will appreciate the simplicity and scenic beauty of this village. Overnight stay will be at Larot.
After taking breakfast, we will be undertaking a breathtaking journey to Dodra-Kwar villages through Chanshal Pass.
Chanshal Pass: Untouched grasslands engulfed with flowers and medicinal plants, with the dancing clouds, where the fresh gentle wind makes you scurry for cover between the boulders, where Kites finds challenging to take its flight, where you be aware of on the pinnacle of the earth is what is called Chanshal Pass.

Dodra: It is a highly serene and stunning village nestled in a remote area of Himanchal above 2500mts sea level ., we will visit the Jakha Dev Temple. After spending time here, we’ll be moving to Kwar Village for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, we will be undertaking a walking tour of Kwar village and interacting with the villagers to learn about their lifestyle, traditions, customs, challenges, and agriculture practices.
Kwar: This village is the center of this region. The first bus entered this village in 2009, and it was the first time that villagers enjoyed the journey in a bus speaks loudly about the remoteness of this place. The plans were approved in 2004 to build a road from Rohru to Kwar Village, but the Devta (Village deity) refused permission for this plan which delayed the construction of the road by five years. The concept of life is such that one should have four sons, one for grazing the livestock, second for agriculture, third for looking after the household’s daily needs, and fourth for as a reliever if anything goes wrong with the other three sons.
Beautiful temples and green fields of the villagers are soothing to the eyes and souls apart from the picturesque surroundings of the village.
After visiting this enchanting village, we will retreat to Dodra Village for a homestay.
After breakfast, we will start our journey back to Shimla, passing through Chanshal Pass-Larot-Rohru. We will be reaching Shimla in the evening and overnight stay at Shimla.
On this day, after breakfast, we will undertake our voyage to Delhi. We will be reaching Delhi in the evening. Overnight stay In Delhi.

Ans. Dodra and Kwar villages are in district Shimla in Indian state of Himanchal Pradesh. One has to cross Chanshal Pass with the height of 4222 meters to reach these two remote villages.
Ans. To reach Dodra Kwar first one has to reach to Shimla from Delhi. There are frequent buses from Delhi to Shimla. One can also take toy train from Kalka to Shimla. The toy train journey from Kalka to Shimla is quite scenic and exciting. From Shimla there are frequent buses for Rohru, the town in Pabbar Valley famous for trout fishing. From Rohru there is one local bus in the morning at 10 am for Dodra Kwar across Chanshal Pass. Following are some distances:-
• Delhi to Shimla: 395 kms /7 hours.
• Shimla to Rohru: 110 kms/3 hours
• Rohru to Chanshal Pass: 48 kms/3 hours

The ride from Rohru to Chanshal Pass is quite adventurous and scenic in nature. As somebody had said the journey should be more rewarding than destination itself.
Ans. The best time to visit Dodra Kwar is May-June and September-October. If some one is snow lover then May is the best month because Chanshal Pass just opens in the month of May. If someone wants greenery, meadows, waterfalls and great variety of flowers then September and October are ideal months for the same. The monsoon months of July and August to be strictly avoided due to torrential rains causing road blocks. Generally speaking Chanshal Pass is blocked due to heavy snowfall in the first week of November. During the closure of Chanshal Pass villagers take the route from Uttrakhand via Dhaula Village trek to commute from Dodra Kwar.
Yes. It is quite safe to visit Dodra Kwar for solo lady traveller. But as these two remote villages are least explored, the facilities for the tourists are nonexistent. It is advisable to contact reliable travel agency which can arrange accommodation in Forest Rest House, arrange camping or make arrangement in some one home.
