The concept of life is such that one should have four sons. One duty is grazing the livestock, second for agriculture, third for looking after the household’s daily needs, and fourth for as a reliever if anything goes wrong with the other three sons.

Ans. Rupin Pass trek starts from Jiskun Village in Shimla district. It ends at Sangla in Kinnaur District in Himachal Pradesh. The altitude of Rupin Pass is 4650 meters.
Ans. The best time to do the Rupin Pass trek is May-June and September-October. One should not venture in this trek in the Monsoon months, torrential rains lashing the Rupin valley during this period. After October, heavy snow engulfs the trail, making it complicated. The September-October months are best to undertake this trek. After the monsoon, the sight of abundant waterfalls makes the trekkers delighted. The weather is also quite pleasant. The sky is much clearer. The presence of greener meadows recently fed with monsoon is ecstatic and a paradise for photography.
Ans. There are two routes to do the Rupin Pass trek. One starts from Dhaula-Sewa-Jiskun-Jakha-Lower Waterfall-Upper Waterfall-Ronti Gad-Sangla. The second one starts from Jiskun itself then follows the same route as mentioned earlier. For the first route, one must travel 220 km from Dehradun to Dhaula by road from where trekking starts. In the second route, one must travel 220 km by road from Shimla through Chanshal Pass to Jiskun, from where the trek to Rupin Pass begins. Out of these two routes, the second route from Jiskun is much more rewarding due to the facts:-
• This trek is shorter in duration. Instead of seven days, it takes five days.
• It also covers Chanshal Pass, from where sunsets are a world-famous surreal experience.
• The ride from Shimla to Jiskun Village is far more exciting than from Dehradun to Dhaula Village. The Chirgaon-Jiskun stretch of road is most gratifying. The sight of multicolor flowers, frequent waterfalls, green meadows, dancing clouds, colorful skyline, and shifting topography is the just out of the world experience.
• You don’t have to walk on the coal tar road in scorching heat to reach Jiskun village on the second day of the trek, as in route one from Dhaula village.
• The time taken by road from Shimla to Jiskun Village is less than the Dehradun to Dhaula Village.
Ans. Rupin Pass trek is moderately complex. Up to the upper waterfall campsite, it is moderate. From there up to the crossover of Rupin Pass, it is a little bit difficult, as one has to walk on snow and it is slippery. Good trek organizers provide crampons and other equipment for this particular stretch.
Ans. No. ATM facilities are not available during the trek. ATM facilities are available in Shimla and Rohru only. One shall carry enough personal cash for this trek.
Ans. Heavy woolens loose enough for comfortable trekking, raincoat, and trekking pole to be carried for this trek.
Ans.Yes. On this trek, every day, there is a change of scenery due to the vibrant topography. Meadows, virgin valleys, waterfalls, dense forests, and very hospitable people are some of the highlights of this trek.
